Holidays
Holidays are taking over at the moment, so I shall suspend any attempt to write anything for a fortnight!

Larks still ascend!
I am surprised to learn that larks are not all that common around here, so we are lucky to have them in such abundance.
www.shropshirewildlifetrust.org.uk has a lovely site showing the county's places of interest to visit. They also have a list of sitings of creatures they would like to know about, the lark is on that list.

I had another visitor to my garden today, the hummingbird hawkmoth. They are lovely creatures and really do look like a hummingbird in miniature. Have a look at this site for info

There were low flying bumble bees in abundance today, one even became ensnared in my hair - rather a shock when the buzzing was so close to my ear!

If Only
Memories of my mother trying to teach me how to pluck and draw a chicken still bring back that retching sensation. If only this had been a successful part of my life I could be living off all sorts of delicious meals now. Pheasant quite frequently, pigeon pie - daily, even 4 and 20 blackbirds baked ina pie would be possible....
The pond in my garden has proved to be a great success with the birds, there is an extremely fat pigeon who lands on the lawn, waddles aound the edge and then finds the safe place to have a drink. It is at this point that I regret not having the stomach to deal with it in a profitable way!
